One of the biggest rock icons of the 1980s has just confirmed how he's celebrating the new year.

Via Instagram, Rick Springfield shared that he will perform on New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. He shared the following message, "Ring in 2026 with me and my band on New Year’s Eve at 8/7c on ABC Network! Woo hoo!"

    This isn't the first time Springfield has kicked off the new year on the annual show. He previously performed on the series twice, once in 1982 when he performed "Jessie's Girl" and in 2011 when he and his band played "Love Somebody."

    Springfield will bring his signature ‘80s rock energy to the celebration. Viewers can expect a nostalgic performance packed with hits that defined a generation.

    According to an ABC Press release, the 2026 installment of New Year's Rockin' Eve will be its biggest celebration yet. There are 32 scheduled acts, with a headliner yet to be announced.

    Joining Springfield for the celebration are 4 Non Blondes, 50 Cent, AJR, BigXthanPlug, Chance the Rapper, Charlie Puth, Chappell Roan, Ciara, and Demi Lovato. Also scheduled to perform are DJ Cassidy's Pass the Mic Live! Starring Busta Rhymes, T.I., and Wyclef Jean, Filmore, Goo Goo Dolls, Jess Glynne, Jessie Murph, Jordan Davis, KPop Demon Leon Thomas, and LE SSERAFIM.

    Lil Jon, Little Big Town, Madison Beer, Maren Morris, Mariah Carey, New Kids on the Block, OneRepublic, Pitbull, Post Malone, Russell Dickerson, The All-American Rejects, Tucker Wetmore, and Zara Larsson round out the performers for the star-studded evening.

    New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest celebrates its 54th year. The annual television celebration began in 1972, with hosts Three Dog Night.

    Dick Clark hosted the wildly popular series from 1974 through 1999 and from 2001 through 2004. Seacrest joined New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in 2006, initially co-hosting alongside Clark after he suffered a stroke in 2004.

    Over the years, Seacrest’s role grew. Following Clark’s passing in 2012, he officially became the show’s main host, carrying on its iconic legacy.
