As UNC men’s basketball snapped a two-game skid to the Kentucky Wildcats, and an 18-year streak of not having won in Rupp Arena, Tar Heel fans and dignitaries quickly took to social media to celebrate.
Tuesday’s game went down to the wire, with freshman guard Derek Dixon hitting a pair of crucial buckets in the final minutes to push the No. 16 Tar Heels to the 67-64 victory over the No. 18 Wildcats. The win is UNC’s first true road win of the season and moves the team to 7-1.
