Luke Combs is one of country music’s biggest stars. He’s a two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year who has shattered records and sold out arenas and stadiums across the country. With such a powerhouse voice and a track record of electrifying live shows, there’s no doubt that if he ever landed a Super Bowl performance slot, he’d bring nothing less than his absolute A-game.
As it turns out, Combs has shared an interest in someday taking up a halftime spot at the nationally televised event. While appearing on a recent episode of ESPN's MNF ManningCast with co-hosts Peyton and Eli Manning, he simultaneously viewed a Carolina Panthers NFL football game against the San Francisco 49ers and answered questions. When asked if he’d rather perform in a Super Bowl or see his favorite team win the big game, Combs didn’t hesitate to answer.
“I’d like to perform in the Super Bowl and see the Panthers win that same Super Bowl,” The “Fast Car” hitmaker, 35, said. “Why not [have] both?”
A native of North Carolina, Combs is a die-hard Panthers fan, and while the team has yet to win a Super Bowl, he still believes in the love of the game. The Panthers have been a team since 1995. Having grown up with them makes Combs an even more passionate fan.
“I was 6 years old when the Panthers became a team. I was living in Charlotte at the time,” he shared. “So it’s kinda in the blood, I guess, for me.”
The Team Hasn’t Been to a Super Bowl Since 2016
“... Obviously, we’ve been down for a decade now. People give me crap, ‘Oh. You talked badly about this. You talked badly about that. What fan hasn’t talked badly about their team? I mean, that’s what fans do, right? I’m no different than anyone else. I’m a die-hard,” he added. “I’m willing to eat crow if we’re winning. Nothing wrong with that. I’m here for it…Listen, I want to see the team win. If that comes at the cost of me looking like a clown, I’m all here for it. I’m all here for us winning the chance to be first in the division. That’s somewhere we hadn’t been since 2016 maybe.”
Although Combs would welcome a chance to play for the Super Bowl in the future, the live entertainment for 2026 has already been announced. Bad Bunny, a globally recognized artist in the rap and Spanish rap genres, will treat viewers when Super Bowl LX airs on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, on NBC.
