Out of Nashville (Tennessee) Christian, Curtis is listed as measuring 6-3 and 225 pounds. He is rated not only the top quarterback, but the No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2026 on the 247Sports Composite.
Curtis had been committed to Georgia since May 5, verbally pledging to Kirby Smart‘s program over Oregon. Verbal commitments, though, are non-binding and Vanderbilt managed to pull off the massive flip.
Vanderbilt superfan and comedian Nate Bargatze got involved in Vandy’s pursuit of Curtis. During College GameDay on Oct. 25 in Nashville ahead of the Vanderbilt-Mizzou game, Bargatze, the celebrity guest picker, took time out of his BYU-Iowa State pick to publicly pitch Curtis on staying home and playing for Clark Lea‘s Commodores.
As one might expect, Curtis has the highest Composite score of any Vanderbilt pledge of all time at 0.9992. Fans who haven’t watched him before and check out his highlights for a preview of what he brings to the West End:
