Sean “Diddy” Combs claims Netflix’s upcoming docuseries about his trials and tribulations is a “shameful” attack that uses personal footage the imprisoned rapper has been collecting for more than 35 years to paint him in an unfavorable light.
“Netflix’s so-called ‘documentary’ is a shameful hit piece,” representatives for Combs told the Daily News in an email.

“Netflix is plainly desperate to sensationalize every minute of Mr. Combs’s life, without regard for truth, in order to capitalize on a never-ending media frenzy,” Combs’ reps allege. “If Netflix cared about truth or about Mr. Combs’s legal rights, it would not be ripping private footage out of context — including conversations with his lawyers that were never intended for public viewing.”
The four-part series produced by Combs’ rival 50 Cent is slated to air Tuesday. Combs’ team calls it “staggering” that Netflix would work with 50 Cent considering his history with the film’s subject.
50 Cents announced on social media in December 2023 that his production company was working on a film about Combs and that “proceeds from this Documentary will go to victims of Sexual Assault and Rape!”

He’s serving a four-year term following his conviction in July on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs maintains his innocence.
Filmmaker Alexandria Stapleton claimed in an interview posted on Netflix’s website last week that her team “obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights” to release “The Reckoning.”
Netflix couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
