SAN DIEGO – Fueled by hometown pride and holiday spirit, event production company Almost Nakey is gearing up to hold SantaCon at Belmont Park on Dec. 13 for the third straight year.
With a full park takeover decked out in all things holiday cheer, Almost Nakey chief executive officer and founder Liv Johnson is bringing Soulja Boy to the stage as headliner alongside some of San Diego’s favorite DJs and artists.
“This year will be one of our biggest yet, and we are so excited to bring SantaCon back to Belmont Park,” said Johnson. “Every year, the crowds get better and better.”
With festivities kicking off at 4 p.m., the park will have four stages: Santa’s Haus Main Stage at Fit Social, Santa’s Twerkshop inside Belmont Park, Candy Cane Lane in the Fit Social courtyard, and the Club Penguin experience. With other big names like Flosstradamus, Devault, and Edris Omar, the park will be filled with music all night long.
“How much better could it get than Souja Boy and tons of other local favorites performing?” asked Johnson.
Holiday garnish will span the 8,000 square feet of amusement park space open for attendees. From the iconic Giant Dipper roller coaster to the Tiki Town Mini Golf, every inch of the park will be decked out in Christmas decor, explained Johnson.
“We really just come in, take over, and make it the best day of the year,” said Johnson.
Sprinkled throughout the park, activation stations will have drink and food samples, photo opportunities, inflatable Christmas decorations, fake snow, and more.
New this year is a full VIP takeover of the Belmont Park arcade, featuring game and drink access, as well as a private seating area.
For Johnson, the magic of SantaCon extends beyond the single-day festival. With Almost Nakey holding several events a year, the spirit of San Diego is what drives Johnson to keep bringing on the fun. From past SantaCons to the company’s annual Freedom Fest, a Fourth of July event that also takes place at Belmont Park, giving San Diegans an experience is what motivates Johnson.
“I am just so grateful to San Diego for always showing up. It is always so great to host, and having the overwhelming positive feedback is what keeps us going. We have such a strong team of people who are just excited to help bring this to life,” said Johnson. “Most of all, it is fun and being able to bring that excitement and fun to Belmont Park.”
Coupled with prioritizing fun is bringing community together, something that festivals like SantaCon highlight.
“The holidays, and especially Christmas time, can be difficult for people, for so many reasons. You never really know what someone is going through or what their year looked like. Having this community, even just for a couple of hours, is so important. Grab your friends, go solo, whatever you decide to do, just go and experience this,” said Johnson.
As an emphasis for community morale, the Almost Nakey team will be on their mobile sleigh promoting the event around Pacific Beach and Mission Beach through SantaCon.
Most of all, Johnson and her team anticipate a packed evening, full of all the things that make SantaCon unique.
“There is such a community with our events, people have found their best friends, relationships, and so much more. This year will be so special,” said Johnson.
