It's been less than a week since we watched Dylan Efron finish his star turn on Dancing with the Stars. But, on Dec. 1, the reality star and brother of Zac Efron revealed he'll be continuing in the world of unscripted TV, alongside a familiar face: Survivor legend Boston Rob Mariano.
The two men will lead a new series, Everything's a Competition. Available on Efron's YouTube channel starting Dec. 11, the show features the pair going head-to-head in a series of unique competitions. From the looks of the trailer, it seems the men will be showing down in everything from pickleball and beer pong to painting and pottery-making. Their battle becomes literal when the two don armor, getting a crash course in all things Medieval Times.

"I grew up watching Survivor. I always thought I could win all of these challenges," Efron says in the trailer, followed by footage of the duo that includes blindfolded golf and a hamburger cook-off. "Now here's my chance to beat Boston Rob at literally everything."
"Some of us have skills that we're good at," says Mariano. Evidently, Everything's a Competition may not necessarily put that at the forefront, as we get a montage of both guys struggling during certain tasks, claiming "bulls—t" multiple times.

It's only appropriate for Efron and Mariano to engage in a medieval battle to the death, because the two struck up a life-changing friendship within the walls of a Scottish castle. Both were contestants in Season 3 of The Traitors that aired early in 2025. The two were on opposite sides of the game, with Mariano behind the scenes as a malicious Traitor, while Dylan's white knight gameplay made him the most "Faithful of the Faithful." Regardless, the two found an immediate connection, helped by Efron's aforementioned Survivor fandom.
During the airing of Traitors, their "bromance" not only sustained, it intensified. That became abundantly clear when Efron was a contestant on this year's edition of DWTS. Mariano took the trip out to L.A. multiple times to cheer him and partner Daniella Karagach on in the ballroom. And he even appeared in a couple of his videos, jokingly threatening fans with the Godfather-esque mentality that has made him one of the best contestants in reality TV history.

Parade got the chance to speak with Mariano shortly after Efron's emotional "Dedication Night" dance alongside his sister, Olivia. And he had nothing but praise to lavish on the eventual fourth-place finisher.
"He's absolutely crushing it," he said. "From where he started to where he is now. He got first place, with all nines across the board. And Olivia was amazing. I brought the whole family out. My kids came out with Amber. And we just all together got to experience that. It was really special."
We shall see how this newfound friendship survives, however, amidst challenges, frustration and plenty of trash-talking. Everything's a Competition premieres Dec. 11 on Dylan Efron's YouTube channel.
