Welcome to Packers Week! Updated Playoff Odds, One Last Batch of Week 13 Fun Facts, And Other Bears Bullets

It feels wonderful to wake up, flip the calendar to December, and not feel a sense of existential dread. I’m chalking these feelings up to the three years of work I’ve put in with my therapist. Sharing these thoughts in this space is therapeutic in its own way. With that being said, let’s pivot to some Bears talk.

This feels good to see on a Monday morning:

A look at the NFC Playoff Picture as we begin December:[image or embed]

    — Bleacher Nation Bears (@bn-bears.bsky.social) December 1, 2025 at 7:45 AM CHICAGO BEARS UPDATED PLAYOFF ODDS: 77.5% (ESPN), 77% (The Athletic), 76% (NFL Next Gen Stats), 69.4% (FTN). This feels notabe: ESPN’s Football Power Index has the Bears projected for 11 wins. Their chances of winning the division have improved to 34.4 percent, while their odds of making the Super Bowl (5.9%) and win it all (2.4%) have also ticked up. I imagine that beating the Eagles on Black Friday in Philly helped make believers out of the machines. How ESPN answered a question about if beating the Eagles legitimizes the 2025 Bears:

This was the most important win for the franchise in years and quiets any doubts about the legitimacy of the Bears’ 9-3 record. Chicago went on the road and beat the reigning Super Bowl champions thanks to a dominant rushing attack and defensive performance that forced Philadelphia into uncharacteristic mistakes, such as Jalen Hurts’ interception and fumble on the tush push. It’s time to start thinking playoffs in Chicago.

Whoa! This totally blew my mind:

The No. 1 seed in the NFC now belongs to the @ChicagoBears ?The last time the Bears held the #1 seed this late into a season was 2006. Ben Johnson was a backup QB at UNC and Caleb Williams had just turned 5 years old.#DaBears pic.twitter.com/KC7ngegSTE

    — NFL+ (@NFLPlus) November 30, 2025 And just like that, we have made it to Packers Week. The last time these two teams squared off at Lambeau Field:

    — Bleacher Nation Bears (@BN_Bears) January 5, 2025 The last time these teams squared off, we were counting down the minutes and seconds until the season could officially come to an end. It had been an emotionally draining season and I was ready to fully immerse myself into the upcoming head coaching search. One year later, the Bears control their own destiny and are playing for the No. 1 seed *AND* a first-round bye from here on out. That’s flippin’ sweet. And you can miss me with the “worst 9-3 team ever” conversation. The NFL doesn’t give out anything for being the best 3-9 team ever. So cram it, nerds. For what it’s worth: The Bears have 5 wins as an underdog this year, with the most recent coming in Week 13 against the Eagles. Other wins that have come while this team has been a betting underdog came against the Cowboys (Week 3), Raiders (Week 4), Commanders (Week 6), and Vikings (Week 11). Because of a scheduling quirk, the Bears play the Packers twice in a span of 13 days. The NFL hasn’t announced the start time for the start time for the Week 16 showdown at Soldier Field. It will either be a 3:30 p.m. CT start or a 6 p.m. start. Call it a hunch, but I feel like that one is destined to be played under the lights.

A final fun fact from Week 13 (via NFL’s Next Gen Stats): “Across 42 designed carries, the Bears recorded 91 yards before contact and 177 yards after contact, both of which were their season highs. Their ball carriers forced nine missed tackles combined, tied for their season-most on such runs, with D’Andre Swift forcing five and Kyle Monangai four.” Jonathan Owens knows his way around Bears-Packers week. I’m glad this got clipped from Friday’s win:

Heard #Bears S Jonathan Owens telling teammates on the field, “It’s real now, huh?” A team some have questioned for style points and opponents faced just beat the Super Bowl champs and is sitting in the No. 2 seed in the NFC.It’s real now. pic.twitter.com/eIRCkYzDw0

    — Bleacher Nation Bears (@BN_Bears) December 1, 2025 OPE! The Vikings’ 294-game scoring streak is OVER after quarterback Max Brosmer threw FOUR interceptions in the team’s 26-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Brosmer threw more picks than Justin Jefferson had targets! (CBS Sports) We haven’t gotten a Drew Brees game since he joined FOX’s team of broadcasters, but the early returns sound encouraging. Meanwhile, Adam Amin’s star continues to shine. His latest addition to his greatest hits came in this Rams-Panthers game.
