The Pioneer Woman: Ree Drummonds Most Treasured Holiday Tradition is Pure Paradise

The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond has revealed her most treasured holiday tradition, calling it pure "paradise."

The Food Network star says the holidays wouldn’t be complete without one special dish she’s been making since she was a little girl, at her mother Gerre Schwert’s side. She can't remember one Christmas that hasn't included her family's beloved Cinnamon Roll recipe.

In a new YouTube video, Drummond walks viewers through the step-by-step process of making this family staple. "Welcome to cinnamon roll paradise," she declared in the clip.

"Just in time for the holidays, I’m sharing my how-to recipe for the BEST cinnamon rolls ever (trust me...one bite and you'll get it!)," she wrote in the video's caption.

"I’ve been making these rolls since I was a little girl, when my mom and I would bake pans and pans of them to deliver to friends and family every Christmas. They’re gooey, buttery, sweet, absolutely legendary...and totally DOABLE!"

The basic recipe is filled with pantry staple ingredients, including milk, a neutral oil, sugar, yeast, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon, which make up the rolls. The icing includes powdered sugar, whole milk, butter, coffee, and salt. Ree uses maple extract and coffee for the icing, but says that it can be omitted if desired.

Drummond’s recipe is meant for gifting, and she usually bakes the cinnamon rolls in disposable tin pans so they’re easy to share. Though the process takes some time, the end result is ideal for hostess gifts, homemade holiday presents, or simply treating family and friends to something sweet throughout the season.

In a blog post on her website, Drummond says that her favorite part about making these rolls (other than eating them) is that they are make-ahead. She says that they can be frozen unrisen, baked but unfrosted, and finally, fully baked and iced. She provides directions for each step of the process, making the recipe a make-ahead marvel.

"Make them for everyone in your life. This is a love that must be shared," the Food Network star wrote in a Q&A session about the most common questions she is asked about the process of making the family favorite recipe. "These cinnamon rolls are…heaven."

Ree Drummond revisits favorite family recipes on her YouTube channel. The Pioneer Woman airs new episodes weekly on Food Network.
