Arkansas on Sunday afternoon officially announced the hiring of Ryan Silverfield as the Razorbacks’ next head coach. Silverfield joins the program after six seasons at the reins at Memphis, where he went 50-25 in six seasons.
“Throughout the search process, Coach Silverfield’s proven ability to win games over a sustained period separated him from the pack and make him the right choice to be our next head football coach,” Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek said in a statement. “The knowledge of our state and region he brings along with the ability to build and maintain a program will provide a great foundation for our program moving forward.”
Silverfield joined Memphis as offensive line coach in 2016 as part of Mike Norvell‘s staff, eventually adding run game coordinator duties in 2017. He was then promoted to associate head coach in 2019.
After Norvell left for Florida State, Silverfield was promoted to head coach. After 21 wins in three seasons, he led the Tigers to back-to-back double-digit win campaigns in 2023 and 2024. The Tigers were 8-4 in 2025.
In 2024, Memphis was in the top 15 in FBS in scoring offense (35.7) and No. 16 in total offense (444.5). Its 22.5 points allowed was third in the American Conference in 2025.
