Bears Fans Week 13 Rooting Interests, An Idea to Spruce Up Packers Week, Tough Luck Lions, and Other Sunday Bullets

A rare Bearsless Sunday is here for us. I suppose plenty of Bears fans in the Chicagoland area will spend a chunk of their day clearing snow from their sidewalks, steps, and elsewhere. But what are you going to do for the rest of the day? Let’s discuss…

No Bears? No problem! CBS-2 has a double-dip featuring the Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts at noon, while the late afternoon start will pit the Buffalo Bills against the Pittsburgh Steelers shortly after 3 o’clock. FOX-32 has a lone single today. That game will feature the Seattle Seahawks hosting the Minnesota Vikings. I imagine the NFL envisioned a Sam Darnold vs. J.J. McCarthy head-to-head battle when the schedules came out. So much for that…

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin says it’s “all systems go” for Aaron Rodgers to play on Sunday against the Bills. There simply is no way you can convince me that Rodgers didn’t purposefully duck the Bears in Week 12. FUN WITH THE ATHLETIC’S PLAYOFF SIMULATOR: Wins by the Browns, Panthers, and Vikings today would lead to this: Odds to make the playoffs: 78 percent No. 1 seed: 9 percent Host a game in the wild card round: 20 percent Wild card entry: 48 percent Miss the playoffs entirely: 22 percent The Bears are in the driver’s seat and control their own destiny in Year 1 of the Ben Johnson era. What a difference a year makes. While I’m thinking about how I’ll be banging out my pregame Bears-Packers notes at this time next week, I can’t shake a random thought that has been rattling around my head in two weeks. It’s silly, but I feel it is worth sharing. And here it is: The Bears and Packers should play a game at Wrigley Field before it’s too late. And by “before it’s too late” I mean before the new stadium goes up out in Arlington Heights. This thought came to me while watching Northwestern play a pair of games at Wrigley Field in November. And the NFL isn’t opposed to leaning into nostalgia. So … let’s meet in the middle? Admittedly, this is a silly, outside-of-the-box idea that I’m not sure the NFL would go for if proposed. Then again, the league wanted the Bears to host a game in Canton to celebrate the league’s centennial season back in 2020. So perhaps it isn’t too far-fetched of an idea to pitch the league (and the Bears) on an alternate venue. This could be fun for Bears fans to watch:

    — HBO Max (@hbomax) November 19, 2025 After going 4-0 against the NFC East, I’m wondering when the NFC East Champs merch starts rolling out? “it’s becoming tougher and tougher” to run the Tush Push, says Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. If it turns out that the Bears uncovered the secret sauce in deending the Tush Push, then the league won’t need to ban it because it will die out on its own. (Pro Football Talk) These numbers truly capture how dominant the Bears offensive line was in the team’s Black Friday win against the Eagles:

    — ImBearingDown (@ImBearingDown) November 29, 2025 A Kevin Fishbain fun fact (via Twitter/X): The Bears ran 85 plays on Friday, which is the most they’ve run in a non-overtime game since 1999. And their 47 rush attempts were the most in a non-overtime game since 1995. We love seeing the Bears rewrite the offensive recordbooks, don’t we? This is a real shame (and I hope the Lions’ string of bad fortune continues through Week 18 … and beyond):
