Charger Aquatics’ Mark Cecco has committed to the University of Alabama as a part of the 2027 recruiting class.
Cecco was featured in the “Best of the Rest” section in SwimSwam’s Rankings of the top 20 recruits in the boys’ high school class of 2027.

Cecco competed at the Speedo Junior National Championships this past summer (LCM). There, he swam a best time in the 400 freestyle, clocking 4:03.42, placing 66th. He also turned in a 22nd-place finish in the 200 free (1:52.50) and finished 55th in the 200 IM (2:08.93).
Cecco hails from Albuquerque, New Mexico, and represents Eldorado High School. He earned a pair of wins at the NMAA State Championships this past February in both the 100 butterfly (49.15) and 200 free (1:40.18).
He set multiple notable short-course bests at the Speedo Sectionals in Austin in March, including the 100 free (45.18), 200 free (1:37.56), 500 free (4:31.03), and 200 IM (1:49.33).
Some other bests of Cecco include the 100 fly (48.64), 200 fly (1:50.59), and 400 IM (3:58.67).

Based on Cecco’s best time, he would have finished 45th in the 200 free, 59th in the 100 free, and 44th in the 500 free.
With still about two seasons before he makes his collegiate debut, his times are already approaching being competitive.
Cecco also possesses a diverse skill set, making him a dynamic asset to this Crimson Tide team. He can dabble in the fly and IM events while still keeping sprint/mid-distance freestyle as an option.
Cecco will join Nash King and Aadin Terrazas in Alabama’s 2027 recruiting class.
