Gilmore Girls fans could get a Christmas present in the future—if the wishes of the show’s cast members come true, that is. Nearly two decades after the beloved series wrapped its original run (and 10 years after the four-part revival), there’s been a lot of chatter about a Stars Hollow Christmas. While series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino has yet to confirm if anything is in the works, several stars from the show have already said they’d be up for a Gilmore Girls sequel set at Christmastime.
In a recent interview on the In Her Words podcast, actress Kelly Bishop, who played Gilmore family matriarch Emily on the series, was asked about the possibility of a Gilmore GirlsChristmas movie or special.
“Well, it all really ultimately depends initially with Amy, and I think that she's open to it,” Bishop, 81, shared in the November 2025 interview. “And I think Lauren [Graham] is, and now you can find Alexis [Bledel]. Alexis is less enthusiastic about the business. She, I don't even know that she wants to be in it. She lives in Texas or something, but she would probably do it for the right amount of money. And I would always be interested in doing it.”
“So, I think it's there's a possibility here because this show is just amazing. It just won’t stop,” Bishop added.
Bishop’s comments about potential Gilmore Girls came after Graham, who starred as Lorelei Gilmore on the series, pitched a reboot idea during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Showearlier this year.
“To me, something that I love they do in England more than they do here is like you have a season of a show that you've loved, like Downton Abbey was one for me, and then they do like a Downton Abbey Christmas,” Graham, 58, said in August. “So you have like, you get to visit your characters, and it's holiday, and it's, you know, it's sentimental, but it's not like a whole reboot of the whole thing. So that is my idea that has been sanctioned by no one.”
In September, Graham elaborated to The Hollywood Reporter, telling the outlet, “I’ve been saying for a long time what I could see making sense is a Christmas movie in the tradition of Downton Abbey or those other kinds of shows that are over but then kind of come together, especially around the holidays. I think that would be very Gilmore friendly.”
“In America, we don’t have enough holiday programming,” she added. “Football is not holiday programming.”
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter again in October, Graham said she’s “always open” to returning to reprise Lorelai. “There’s no reason why I wouldn’t be,” she said. "I’ve always said a Christmas movie seems like a way to revisit the characters. That wouldn’t have to be a full series, and I think would make sense for dressing up the town and having a holiday-themed gathering. So that’s what I’ve been saying, but I’m not in charge.”
Graham and Bishop aren’t the only two Gilmore Girls OGs who’d love to celebrate another Christmas together. According to Screen Rant, in the upcoming documentary Drink Coffee, Talk Fast, Sally Struthers, who played Babette Dell on the original series, expressed interest in another sequel. “What’s happening in Stars Hollow for Christmas? It would be really nice to visit everybody,” the Gilmore Girls star said.
