ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A storm system passing to our west on Sunday will keep our weather somewhat unsettled on this Sunday. Snow showers through the morning transition over to some rain showers as temperatures climb into the upper 30s and lower 40s. It’ll also be breezy to windy, with a southwesterly wind gusting to near 40mph, especially west of Rochester toward Buffalo. A wind advisory is posted for Orleans, Genesee and Wyoming Counties through 10PM. A cold front moves in later this evening, allowing a transition back over to some lake effect snow showers off of Lake Erie. Once again, any accumulation will be minor, but there will be some flakes returning later on.
Monday will see fairly quiet weather, with any lake flakes ending, and a little sun returning. It’ll be chilly, with highs in the lower to mid 30s. Another winter storm will be approaching the region on Tuesday, but the track of this one brings it to the south of us. We’ll be on the colder side of it, so it’ll be cold enough for some snow showers and light snow, but far enough away that the biggest snows and impacts will be to our south into Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. Still, a minor accumulation is likely on Tuesday.
It’ll be turning much colder by the end of the week, with highs in the 20s along with some lake snow. At this point, we’re remaining Green on the Threat Tracker, with only minor impacts on the roads from the upcoming rounds of snow showers.
