What a difference a year makes. On Black Friday in 2024, the Chicago Bears fired Matt Eberflus as their head coach. That decision got the ball rolling and led us to where we are today — celebrating a Black Friday win against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Thoughts on the Bears win on Black Friday
UPDATED PLAYOFF ODDS: With that win, The Athletic’s NFL Playoff Simulator gives the Bears a 74 percent chance of making the playoffs with five games remaining on their 2025 regular-season schedule. That number figures to change depending on how things shake out in Sunday’s games. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. But for right now, let’s live in the moment and enjoy what this team has going on with a running game that might be the toughest to defend and a defense that is starting to find its identity.CHICAGO BEARS WEEK 13 INSTANT GRADES
The Bears offense is at its best when it is running downhill with the tandem of D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai. Don’t get me wrong. I understand the temptation of wanting to give one significantly more carries than the other, but the ground game works best with a tandem of ball carriers who keep opposing defenses on their heels. It was nice to see Swift and Monangai get going early and carry that momentum throughout the game.KYLE MONANGAI RUSHING TD | D’ANDRE SWIFT RUSHING TD
Caleb Williams’ accuracy issues are a growing concern. His showing on Friday was tough to judge with an unforgiving wind and would-be receivers slipping. But there were a handful of throws that, in the moment, probably left you muttering “bet he’d like to have that one back” under your breath. Unfotunately, this isn’t something that can improve decisively in between weeks or in the season. However, he makes just enough splash plays (like this TD pass to tight end Cole Kmet in the fourth quarter) to balance out the rough stuff. Caleb Williams — I still can’t believe that this throw resulted in a touchdown:

— Funky Cold Luda (@funkycoldluis.bsky.social) November 28, 2025 at 4:41 PMThere is no denying that Caleb Williams’ stat line was an ugly one. QB1 finished completing 17 of 35 passes for 154 yards. He threw a touchdown, but also tossed a pick. Williams finished with a 58.5 passer rating. At least he and his coaches will get a mini-bye for a reset.
Gervon Dexter Sr. — A penalty by the third-year defensive tackle sparked the first Eagles touchdown drive. Otherwise, I don’t remember Dexter contributing much on the defensive line. At this stage of his development, I’m wanting more out of Dexter than what he is showing. Perhaps we’ll dive into that between now and when next Sunday’s game kicks off..
Darnell Wright — Chicago’s offensive line held its own for most of the game. Quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked twice, but took six quarterback hits. Wright was dinged for a holding penalty, but it was one of those where you’ll gladly accept it when the alternative would have been seeing the quarterback knocked into next Tuesday.
WHAT’S NEXT: vs. Green Bay Packers at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday, Dec. 7 at Lambeau Field (FOX)
What. A. Game. The Chicago Bears turned back the clock with a ground-and-pound game that would make your grandpa blush. And just like that, the Bears have locked in a winning season. All it took was a road win on short rest against the defending Super Bowl champs in their building. You can’t script this stuff, man. But if you could, you would totally write it up where the next game was against the Green Bay Freaking Packers at Lambeau Field.
