Macy's is marching towards a milestone! With the 99th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in the books, the countdown is now on for the centennial celebration. The iconic tradition, which began in 1924, will celebrate its 100th, yes 100th, parade in 2026.
"I know that we want to inflate what we already do as much as we can," Brendan Kennedy, director of creative production, exclusively told Parade while discussing the 100th spectacle.
Taking lessons from parades past, Kennedy said, "I feel like the 99th is just sort of like taking up all those ingredients and bringing them down the street and marching down the street, but we're going to like plus up, add them up, have new stuff for next year and just really bring America the best... the fun."
Macy's was already in the process of planning its 100th parade before the 99th had even made its way through the streets of New York City. Kennedy set the bar high, describing the 2025 parade as "bigger and better than ever"...so will the 100th top it? "I think it'll just be different. But yes," he said.
"We're really trying to just see how much further can we can take it because we're always trying to bring excitement and joy and tradition to all the folks at home," Kennedy shared.
Though he couldn't divulge much about the 100th parade, Kennedy noted, "We're always going to be trying to look back to sort of look forward to how is Macy's and the parade evolving to consistently bring new and fun entertainment to the millions on the street and at home watching on NBC and Peacock."

How to watch the 100th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
The beloved tradition has been broadcast on NBC since 1953. Back in February of 2025, Macy's signed a new 10-year rights deal with NBCUniversal for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Macy’s 4th of July Fireworkson NBC, Peacock and Telemundo.
In 2023, the broadcast was moved up 30 minutes and has started at 8:30 a.m. ET since then.

What balloons will be featured in the 100th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?
We won’t know which balloons will be returning or making their debut in the 100th parade until Macy’s makes their official announcement, but Brendan previously told Parade that the centennial celebration will "have new balloons" as well as "classic balloons."
As with the balloons, we'll have to wait until and see which floats will be coming back or floating down the streets of New York City for the first time when Macy's makes their announcement.
