UPDATED PLAYOFF ODDS FROM THE ATHLETIC: Hey, now! The Bears enter their Black Friday showdown against the Eagles with a 54 percent chance of making the playoffs, according to The Athletic’s Playoff Simulator. Before Thursday’s games kicked off, Chicago’s football team was sitting with a 49 percent chance. That’s an increase of 5 percentage points without lifting a finger. Now, that is what I call a productive Thanksgiving. How big could a Bears win be? A victory in Philadelphia boosts Chicago’s playoff odds to 74 percent. But a loss would dip those probabilities down to 48 percent. That is a swing of 26 percentage points. This is an important game (to say the least). Roster stuff: In addition to activating Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon from injured reserve, the Bears put offensive lineman Luke Newman on IR and placed running back Brittain Brown on waivers to clear roster spots ahead of the Week 13 matchup in Philly.

The Bears beat the Cowboys. The Cowboys beat the Chiefs (and Eagles). Therefore, the Bears are better than the Eagles and Chiefs. Don’t you dare give me that look. That’s just transitive math, babyyy! Don’t look now, but the Bears now have two wins against teams over .500: The Cowboys (Week 3) and Steelers (Week 12). Thinking out loud: A Dallas Cowboys win next Thursday against the Detroit Lions is the type of thing that could give the Bears’ playoff odds a boost. Do I like the idea of rooting for the Cowboys? No. Am I willing to do it because of what it could mean for the playoff probabilities? Absolutely. Begrudgingly? Sure. But as we learned with the Bears-Eagles alliance: The enemy of the enemy is my friend. Mandatory Credit: David Banks-Imagn Images The Black Friday Game vs. Philly begins a six-game stretch for the Bears in which they will be in prime viewing windows (at least) four times. Today’s game is an island game, as are games in Week 16 (at home vs. the Packers) and Week 17 (Sunday Night Football on the road against the 49ers). The team recently got its Week 14 game in Green Bay moved into the prime afternoon window at Lambeau Field. And the Week 18 game against the Lions could still be in play as a flex option. Marquee’s Nicholas Moreano has Bears left guard Joe Thuney as a player to watch on Friday. Chicago’s football team figures to lean on Thuney’s veteran presence. Not just because he has been the team’s best and steadiest player, but he also has ample expereince against the Eagles’ defensive line from his time playing against them in Super Bowls with the Chiefs. It feels reassuring to know that Pro Football Focus has Thuney down for a 1.8 percent pressure rate allowed that ranks as the best among all NFL guards this season. From ESPN’s Courtney Cronin: “The Bears’ offensive line came away from the Steelers game with an 85% pass block win rate, their second highest in a game this season. Pittsburgh was able to pressure quarterback Caleb Williams on only eight of his 37 dropbacks (22%), the lowest rate Williams has faced in a game this season.” (ESPN) This is some high praise for the Bears offensive line:

    — Dan Orlovsky (@danorlovsky7) November 25, 2025 Jeff Agrest (Sun-Times) writes about how the Bears-Eagles game is only part of Amazon’s sports bonanza. I didn’t realize that Bucks-Knicks and Mavericks-Lakers were also part of the Friday sports shenanigans. I haven’t watched any of Amazon’s NBA programming. That could change today. I hate that the Packers are heating up just in time to face the Bears. The last three games for Packers QB Jordan Love: 45/75 (60%), 547 yards, 6 TD, 0 INT, 7.3 Y/A, 109.1 passer rating. The Lions put up 44 points against the Washington Commanders in a Week 10 win after Head Coach Dan Campbell took over the play calling. Since then, the Lions have lost two of three and the offensive side of the ball has been inconsistent. It makes you realize how important Ben Johnson was to that operation.
