Millie Bobby Brownwas 12 years old when she started on Stranger Thingsin 2016. Now, just shy of a decade later, she’s a 21-year-old married mom of one.
“It’s been a beautiful, amazing journey – she’s taught us so much already,” Brown said of parenthood in the November 2025 issue of British Vogue. Not even three months earlier, on Aug. 21, she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, announced via Instagram that they have a child, having adopted a daughter.
“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” the couple shared to the shock and delight of their fans.
“We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in peace and privacy.”

Yes. Brown and husband Jake Bongiovi (whose dad is legendary rocker Jon Bon Jovi) welcomed a daughter through adoption in the summer of 2025.
“The smaller things in life are so much more precious [now],” Brown told British Vogue. “Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love. It’s just endless joy.”
But she won’t share much more than that about her daughter — not even her name. “For me, it’s really important to protect her and her story until she’s old enough to potentially one day share it herself,” Brown told the outlet. “It’s not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly. If she chooses to share her personality one day with the world, like I did when I was young, that’s something we’d support. But right now, as she’s so little. As her parents, it’s our job to protect her from that.”

Did Millie Bobby Brown adopt her baby?
She did! The Enola Holmes actress adopted a baby girl with Bongiovi this past summer. She alluded to the possibility of adoption on an episode of the “SmartLess” podcast in March 2025.
“I really want a big family – I’m one of four; he’s one of four,” she told hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes. “I don’t see having your own child, you know, as really any different [than] adopting.”
She also confirmed that she wanted to start a family on the younger side, as her parents did (her mom and dad had their first child when they were 21 and 19, respectively).
“It’s been my thing since before I met Jake,” she said. “Since I was a baby, I told my mom, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.”
Brown shares a daughter with her 23-year-old husband, Jake Bongiovi, whom she married in May 2024 after about three years of dating.
Speaking to Alex Cooperon “Call Her Daddy,” she said she started thinking about marrying Bongiovi, a model/actor, after they moved in together. “We had dogs together and we were taking care of our animals and we started living this day-to-day life, and I thought, ‘Oh, I really don’t think I could ever see you as anything else. I don’t want to be with anyone else ever again. I don’t want to date, I don’t want to meet anyone, I want you.’”
More recently, she confirmed that he’s an excellent coparent. “We are 50-50 on everything,” she told British Vogue. “That’s why I’m so grateful to have partnered with him in this life – he is just the most amazing dad.”
Why did Millie Bobby Brown get married so young?
Brown walked down the aisle when she was 20 because, well, she wanted to, and that’s her prerogative! But it helped that she and Bongiovi had strong examples of young love.
“His parents got married really young — they’re high school sweethearts,” she said on “Call Her Daddy.”
“My parents got married really young. They met when they were 19. So we had just, like, really young marriages [in our families]. We had really great role models growing up, so we didn't see any different. We didn't get jaded by all the other stuff, you know?”
