Gypsy-Rose Blanchard recently underwent a total hair transformation — but just revealed she has been keeping her new short locks under cover with wigs.
Over the past few weeks, the 34-year-old has been incredibly active on social media, sharing snippets of her life with her boyfriendKen Urker and their daughter Aurora, who turns one next month.
Since opening up more about her life, followers have noticed that Blanchard has been wearing blonde wigs instead of showing off her usual brunette locks. In an Instagram story on Wednesday (Nov. 26), Blanchard explained that she was forced to cut all of her hair off due to damage.

"This is my real natural hair. I had to cut it really short because nearly two years of bleaching completely fried it," Blanchard explained, adding a photo with her natural hair cropped into a pixie cut, accessorized with a white headband.
She continued, "I don't feel comfortable with short hair, so I normally wear a high-quality wig while my real hair grows back healthy. I'm giving my hair a fresh start so it can grow long again."
While it's unclear exactly when she cut her hair, she may have started wearing wigs back in May, according to PEOPLE. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Blanchard was seen with long blonde hair — but just a few weeks prior, she had posed for a photo while rocking a brunette bob.
While Blanchard naturally has brown hair, she began dying it blonde sometime after being released from prison in late 2023. At the time, Blanchard explained that while starting her new life, she was planning on going through a physical transformation.
"I’m going through a personal transformation journey currently and that includes a physical one, too," she told PEOPLE ahead of a planned rhinoplasty.
Since then, Blanchard has shared that she has no other cosmetic procedures planned for the future and is happy just the way she is.
