DENVER — Colorado bankruptcy filings increased 15% in October, compared with the same period a year ago.
The state recorded 823 bankruptcy filings during October, the highest monthly number since prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, up from 717 for the same period a year ago. Colorado recorded 753 bankruptcy filings in September.
Year-to-date filings total 7,197, up 10% from 6,528 through October 2024. Individual filings totaled 805 in October, up from 703 a year ago. Business filings totaled 18, compared with 14 the prior year.
That’s according to a BizWest analysis of U.S. Bankruptcy Court data. Numbers cited include all new filings, including open, closed and dismissed cases.
In the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado, filings were up in Boulder, Larimer and Weld counties, and unchanged in Broomfield.
