Ina Gartenhas devoted her life to her career — and along the way, she made the decision that she didn't she didn't have the desire to become a mother.
During an appearance on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast on Tuesday (Nov. 25), the Food Network star reflected on the choice that she and her husband Jeffrey made decades ago.
While Garten, 77, admits that there were no other women who were making the same decision she did at the time, she has no regrets about her choice.
"I mean, it's amazing to me that I made that decision so young and that, thank God, Jeffrey was okay with it," Garten said. "I just can't imagine my life any other way."

She continued, "I've done what I wanted to do. I've had...just a wonderful time."
Garten went on to joke that the best part of being child-free has been that she doesn't have to "be responsible for them," especially during their teenage years.
It's not the first time Garten has opened up about the topic, previously sharing her reasoning for making the decision to not have kids.
“I had no interest in having children. None. I just had a terrible childhood, and it was nothing I wanted to recreate,” she said on Julia Louis-Dreyfus' podcast, Wiser Than Me.
As a woman with a career back in the '70s, Garten said the decision "wasn't a struggle at all" — but as her friends began to welcome children, she admits she understood why it was important to them.
"But when I was 20, I didn't want to have anything to do with it," she said, later noting, "I think Jeffrey would have been a great parent. He would have really loved having children,. But, he wanted me to be happy, and it was okay with him."
