A former Alabama assistant received a strong endorsement from Nick Saban for the Penn State head coaching job.
Saban appeared on Tuesday on The Pat McAfee Show. The Penn State job was discussed, and Saban was asked for his thoughts on Brian Daboll potentially becoming the new head coach of the Nittany Lions. Saban had high praise for his former offensive coordinator and endorsed the suggestion of Penn State hiring Daboll as head coach.
“He’s a very good coach,” Saban said of Daboll. “He’s a bright guy. He’s a good recruiter. He relates well to the players. He’s a good teacher. He’s got a good offensive mind. He’ll be able to put a good staff together. I think that would be an outstanding hire.”
