The driver who injured more than 130 people by ramming his car into crowds at the Liverpool title parade wept in court as he changed pleas to guilty on the opening day of his trial.
Paul Doyle, 54, was due to stand trial on 31 charges including dangerous driving, affray, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and wounding with intent.
A jury had been sworn in and was due to hear the prosecution opening on Wednesday.
But proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court were delayed and when the jury returned Judge Andrew Menary KC told them they were being discharged.

Thousands of people were in Liverpool city centre when Doyle’s Ford Galaxy Titanium drove into pedestrians on the evneing of 26 May.
Those injured ranged in age from a 78-year-old woman to children aged as young as seven months.
Doyle will be sentenced at a later date.
