CAIRO, Nov 25 (MENA) – Security forces deployed heavily around polling stations early Tuesday, hours before voting resumed for the second and final day of the second phase of Egypt’s 2025 parliamentary elections, which cover 13 governorates.
Police swept the areas around voting centers, securing roads leading to polling sites in coordination with other authorities. Senior security officials toured deployed forces to check readiness and instructed them to ensure orderly conduct and treat voters respectfully, especially the elderly and people with disabilities.
The second phase began on Monday, with results due to be published in the official gazette once counting ends. Run-off voting is scheduled for December 17–18.
Thirteen governorates are voting in this phase, with 1,316 candidates contesting 73 single-member districts. Cairo leads with 19 districts and 205 candidates, followed by Daqahlia with 10 districts and 288 candidates, and Sharqiya with 9 districts and 253 candidates. Other governorates include Gharbiya, Qalyubiya, Monufia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Ismailia, Damietta, Port Said, South Sinai, North Sinai and Suez.
