Joanna Gaines’ 20,000-Light Christmas Tree Needed a Full Crew — and Still Fell Twice

Joanna Gaines’ Christmas tree is so massive it practically needs its own zip code — and apparently, a small army to light it. The Fixer Upper star stunned fans after revealing just how many thousands of bulbs (and how many mishaps) it took to illuminate the towering tree inside her Waco farmhouse.

"Always such a fun day✨ These sweet friends help me every year because lighting a tree this big is not only an art but also requires a masters degree in electrical science," she captioned her Monday, November 24, Instagram video.

As her Magnolia crew was hard at work, Joanna questioned "how many lights" were strung on the tree.

"20,000 lights!!" she confirmed. "The tree has only fallen once. The day's not over. We're so close. It's looking so beautiful."

Fans were shocked to learn of the "labor of love," as it took a team of Magnolia employees six hours to complete the tree.

Joanna shared an update with fans after the gorgeous tree fell a second time, snowing that the team had secured the tree to the wall with a wire.

"First, I would not have the patience to put these on. But I especially cannot imagine taking them all OFF," one fan commented.

"This is the only way to light a tree in my opinion! So gorgeous and exactly how I lit mine before I switched to a faux," another wrote.

"I love it, would never be able to put that many lights on a tree, would not have the patience, but glad y’all can. It’s a beautifully shaped live tree," a third commented.

Fans and followers were not the only ones impressed by the feat.

"Crew and I want to sleep on the couch for the next month or so, she's magical," Joanna shared of her youngest son -- whom she shares with husband Chip Gaines.
