Marlo Thomas is finding herself back in the spotlight following the 2024 death of her husband Phil Donahue.
"I miss him a lot," she said on Today this week while promoting the a new wing of the St. Jude's Research Center, for which she is the National Outreach Director. Since the talk show icon passed away in August of last year, the That Girl star stepped away from public life, announcing that she would do so in an Instagram post sharing the news of the loss of her husband. He was 88.

"I'll be stepping away from this page for a while to take care of myself and the many people who took care of Phil, and held him close to their hearts," she wrote at the time. Chatting with the Today hosts, Thomas, who turned 88 this past Saturday, acknowledged that she's "like Sheinelle" referring to Sheinelle Jones, whose husband died in May. "She’s been my Earth angel," Jones acknowledged. Thomas and Donahue were married for 44 years. Their relationship was regarded as an inspiring love story as Hollywood relationships rarely endure for decades.

The couple met on a his talk show, The Phil Donahue Show, and it was "instant chemistry," Thomas said in a clip of the show posted to her YouTube channel."You are really fascinating he said," as he closed out his show, to which she replied, "No, but you are wonderful...you are loving and generous and you like women, it's a pleasure." "Whoever is the woman in your life is very lucky," she added.
