A long-awaited Portillo’s restaurant has opened for business in suburban Plainfield, but with an interesting twist.
According to the company, the new location opened up to customers on Monday, but rather than being a brick-and-mortar restaurant with dine-in seating, the restaurant will be a bit different.
That’s because the restaurant will only have pick-up and drive-thru options for customers, mimicking a model that has been deployed in several other suburbs in recent months.
“We are thrilled with the upcoming addition of Portillo’s to our community and know that Portillo’s will have great success in Plainfield,” said Mayor John Argoudelis in a statement. “Our residents have wanted Portillo’s in Plainfield for a long time, and this Chicago legend is finally here!”
The company says the pick-up only location is the fourth they will have available to customers, joining restaurants in Joliet, Rosemont and Orland Park.
In addition to the drive-thru option, with two lanes at the location, customers can also place orders for pick-up at the location. Delivery and catering options are also available, according to the company.
More information on the restaurant and its offerings can be found on the Portillo’s website.
