Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert paid tribute to her late co-star, Victor French, who portrayed Mr. Edwards in the historical drama series.
On Monday, Nov. 24, the former child actress who played Laura Ingalls Wilder took to Instagram with a sweet throwback photo with French.

"I stumbled upon this photo today and it made me so incredibly happy and wistful, " Gilbert, 61, began her update. "This was such a happy time in my life. Victor French was an absolute joy to work with. He was easy to love."
She continued, "To me he was basically a beloved uncle. I learned so much from him as an actor for sure, but also how to live life fully and deeply. He made me laugh until I peed. He was gentle, generous and incredibly supportive. I miss him."
In the featured image, Gilbert, in costume as Laura, smiled as she craned her neck to look up at French, dressed like Isaiah Edwards. The actor died at 54 in 1989 after a battle with lung cancer.

In the comments, Gilbert's followers joined her in remembering French and his memorable character. One Instagram user wrote, "Love this photo—your interaction on camera showed your true feelings❤️."
