In an interview with The New York Times, the Gladiator star said Steve Irwin would be "so impressed" by his son’s moves on the dance floor — and deeply proud of the man Robert has become.
"I think he would watch Robert dancing and how he uses his body, the strength and poise, and he would be in awe of his son," said Crowe.
While Robert and his father are alike in many ways, from looks, personality, and their good heart, Crowe details one main difference between them.
"Although Steve could read the rhythms of the seasons and every living creature, he was absolutely not gifted with a sense of musical rhythm," he said. "In his hands, a tambourine became a deadly weapon."
Robert has previously spoken about the big influence the actor has had on his life before and after his father's death in 2006. He's shared how having a relationship with Crowe has kept his father's memory alive.
"I'm really grateful that I have someone in my life who ... he's actually been there to, in a way, keep my dad alive in my life. He has so many stories to share of him and dad, and I feel like I build an even better picture of my dad when I'm around Russell," he said at the 2025 AFI Fest.
Robert has gone the distance, entering the finale week of DWTS and a hopeful winner among fans. Throughout his journey on the dance competition series, he hasn't been shy about the inclusion of his family.
During Week 5 of DWTS, he moved fans with his performance, dedicated to his mother, Terri Irwin. He's also rehearsed every routine with his two lucky charms: keys from his childhood home and his father's shirt.
