Running back Jett Walker flipped his commitment from West Virginia to Minnesota only 3 weeks ago. This evening, he decided he didn’t want to be a Golden Gopher, either, after his hometown school courted him.
According to On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett, Walker — a 3-star recruit — has flipped his commitment from Minnesota to Texas. The move comes just 1 day after Walker took an official visit to Austin to watch the Longhorns battle the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Walker is the No. 737 national recruit, the No. 104 Texas recruit and No. 46 running back in the country, according to 247 Sports’ Composite rankings. He burst onto the scene as a junior in 2024, when he ran for 2,371 yards (10.8 yards per carry) and 37 touchdowns.
His hometown, Georgetown, Texas, is just 28 miles north of Austin. Conversely, Morgantown, WV and Minneapolis, MN — the location of the schools at which he was previously committed — are each more than 1,000 miles away.
Walker is the 22nd commit of Texas’ 2026 recruiting class. He joins Derrek Cooper (Hollywood, FL) as the lone tailbacks in the Longhorns’ class. Texas has the country’s ninth-best recruiting class — and the SEC’s fifth-best — after keeping Walker in the Lone Star State.
