A crash between a Chicago police squad vehicle and a car left two officers seriously injured on Sunday morning in the West Rogers Park neighborhood, authorities said.
The collision was reported at approximately 3:43 a.m. along North Western Avenue near West Granville Avenue. According to police, a marked Chicago Police Department squad vehicle was proceeding through an intersection northbound when the driver of a Toyota sedan disregarded a stop light and struck the squad vehicle.
Two officers were taken to an area hospital and initially listed in serious condition. The driver of the Toyota, a 26-year-old man, was listed in stable condition at an Evanston hospital.
As of Sunday morning, citations were pending against the driver.
