Fans Sound Alarm After Suspicious AI Account Masquerades as Famous Rocker

Artificial intelligence has made fan–artist interactions feel closer than ever, but sometimes a little too close. One British rocker has been duplicated by AI time and time again since making it big, and fans have uncovered yet another high-tech hoax. This time, a suspicious Discord account that appears to mimic Yungblud (Dominic Harrison) is the culprit.

Over the past few years, rock and pop fandoms have seen a wave of AI-generated deepfake videos, voice notes, and fake accounts pretending to be their favorite musicians. From fabricated apology videos to fake fan-club announcements, these creations can be convincing enough to spark confusion, panic, or misplaced excitement before the truth surfaces.

"Another fake account?" one Redditor shared in the Yungblud Reddit sub.

"I’m going to assume this is a fake account on Discord," the post continued. "The video looks like it’s AI and the voice message sounds a bit mechanical. Has anyone else on discord been contacted by this account?"

"I haven’t been contacted but yes, both the video and voice memo are 100% AI generated," another Redditor who also uses Discord said. Another fan pointed out the rocker's, 28, appearance, noting his hair style date back to 2022 and don't resemble the darker, slicked back hair he boasts today.

"Dom doesn't have a discord, he has an Instagram [or] Facebook where he keeps everyone updates," another Reddit user said, adding how fake Yungblud accounts are everywhere these days. Instead of using the communication platform Discord, the Idols singer connects with fans through his Instagram channel, social media posts, and email newsletters.

"If he were to make a discord server for his music and fans, he would let us know through his Instagram chat, through his stories on social media, and not very likely but maybe a post by him," this fan elaborated. "Besides, fans would be going off the rails, telling everyone to join, sharing it, there would probably even be web articles on it by now."

AI Hoaxes Aren’t New in Rock Fandom

This isn’t the first time rock fans have been fooled by AI-generated content. Just this year, deepfake clips of artists "announcing" surprise tours, new albums, or sudden retirements spread across TikTok before being debunked. Some fan communities have even documented AI-edited livestreams and fake cameos that look uncannily real.

And as tools become more accessible and more convincing, music fandoms especially are increasingly having to navigate what’s real and what’s not. Fans are urging each other to stay cautious, verify accounts, and continue relying on the official channels of their favorite rock stars.
