2025 Minnesota State High School League Girls AA State Championships

Nov. 13-15 Minneapolis, Minnesota SCY (25 yards) Results

The expected two-team race played out that way at the Minnesota State High School League Girls AA State Championships.

Edina and Minnetonka have been the state’s two best teams all year, including when they met in an epic dual earlier this season that was won by Minnetonka.

Edina not only avenged that loss, but reclaimed the state title it lost to Minnetonka last year, edging out their rivals by 10 points.

It was Edina’s 20th overall state championship.

Edina entered the 400 free relay leading Minnetonka by four points, and then the team of Macy Malinski (51.57), Audrey Peterson (52.53), Libbi McCarthy (49.99) and Bobbi Simmons (51.06) clinched the title by winning the event with a time of 3:25.15, more than five seconds ahead of Minnetonka.

Edina also won the 200 medley relay in 1:42.64 behind the team of Simmons (25.66), Sophie Katz (30.08), Amira Nguyen-Ingalsbe (24.85) and McCarthy (22.05).

Minnetonka took the 200 free relay in 1:34.61 behind the team of Claire Wilkey (23.22), Lydia Cameron (23.59), Annika Graham (23.85) and Sofia Kukowski Gonzalez (23.95).

McCarthy and East Ridge junior Logan Havermann each won two events individually.

Committed to Minnesota, McCarthy excelled in her future college pool, first winning the 50 free in a personal best and state record time of 22.52.

McCarthy then won the 100 free in a personal best time of 49.32. At last year’s state meet, McCarthy was 2nd in both events.

Committed to Louisville, Havermann captured the 200 IM in 2:01.26 and the 100 breast in 1:03.67, repeating as champion in both events.

    Other individual winners were:

Shakopee junior Lexi Tippie won the 200 free in a personal best time of 1:49.16. An Arizona commit, Tippie repeated as champion in the event. Wayzata junior Ashley Mouyenga captured the 1-meter diving title with 490.70 points, improving on a 3rd-place finish last year. John Marshall senior Julia Ogren, a Louisville commit, won the 100 fly in a personal best time of 53.52. Mounds View senior Ellie Bina won the 500 free in a personal best time of 4:55.44. Bina, who has committed to Notre Dame, improved on a 4th-place finish from last year. Simmons, a sophomore, topped the field in the 100 back with a time of 54.57.
