If you’re eligible to receive the refund check and you haven’t gotten it yet, you can expect to see it in the mail in the next couple of weeks. It’s been more than a month since Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office started sending out what the governor calls inflation refund checks. We reached out to her office to see how far along they are in the distribution process and how many more they have to go.
A representative said about 7.6 million checks have been sent to eligible New Yorkers so far. That’s just over 92% of the total number of checks the state plans to send. The representative says 8.2 million total checks will go out when all is said and done, which means there are about 600,000 checks left to be sent out.
As News10NBC has reported, the state is sending them out based on when you filed your 2023 tax returns. If you filed them late, even as late as October of this year, and you haven’t received a check yet, you are likely one of those remaining 600,000 checks.
