The 3rd day of the 2025 Gamecock Invite saw UNC get out to a great start, winning both 200 free relays to start the session. In the women’s 200 free relay, Kamryn Meskill (22.83) Michaela Chokureva (22.78), Mackenzie Headley (22.06), and Eden Goettsch (22.18) teamed up to give the Tar Heels the win with a 1:29.85. South Carolina came in 2nd with a 1:30.13, led by Taylor Grimley’s 22.02 on the anchor.

UNC then went on to win the men’s 200 free relay as well. Martin Kartavi (19.65), Louis Dramm (18.97), Sean Setzer (19.05), and Nate Hohm (19.10) combined for a 1:16.77, winning the race by nearly 2 seconds.

The Tar Heels kept the momentum rolling, seeing Sophia Frei win the women’s 100 back in 52.06. The swim marks a new career best for Frei, taking about a quarter-second off her previous mark of 52.32.

South Carolina’s Ryan Hufford would then take the men’s 100 back, swimming a 46.59. Hufford’s performance clipped his previous best of 46.72, which he swam at the 2024 SEC Championships.

The Gamecocks picked up another win, seeing Delaney Franklin take the women’s 200 breast in 2:09.92. The performance marks Franklin’s first time under 2:10 in the event.

Perhaps the best race of the night came after that, where UNC’s Ben Delmar popped a blistering 1:49.76 in the men’s 200 breast. Not only did that swim mark Delmar’s first time under 1:50 in the 200 breast, it also marked a new UNC program record.

South Carolina’s Nora Fluck won the women’s 500 free with a 4:42.82. Fluck’s career best is a 4:40.68 from the SEC Championships last season.

The Gamecocks made it a sweep of the 500’s, seeing Pierre Largeron win the men’s 500 in 4:13.93. The performance marks a huge career best for Largeron, blowing away his previous best of 4:18.57.

UNC’s Kamryn Meskill won the women’s 50 free in 22.48. Meskill has actually already been faster than that this season, having gone 22.33 at the UNC vs UVA dual meet back in October, which stands as her career best.

UNC’s Martin Kartavi won the men’s 50 free in 19.55.

Just like the 200 medley relay, the women’s 400 medley relay was a very tight race, seeing South Carolina win in 3:33.42, while UNC was 3:33.46. For South Carolina, Amy Riordan (52.04), Elizabeth Goodwin-Bernie (1:00.36), Jordan Agliano (52.38), Dylan Scholes (48.64) combined to earn the win. Meanwhile, Sophia Frei (52.25), Samantha Armand (1:00.21), Mary Macaulay (52.94), and Kamryn Meskill (48.06) teamed up for UNC, falling just short at the finish.

UNC then won the men’s 400 medley relay with a 3:04.84. Colin Whelehan (46.84), Ben Delmar (51.03), Seb Lunak (45.07), and Louis Dramm (41.90) teamed up to get the job done for the Tar Heels.
