Now, he’s gearing up for an even bigger reunion: "CBS Presents Everybody Loves Raymond: 30th Anniversary Reunion," airing Monday, Nov. 24.
It has been 20 years since the series finale of Everybody Loves Raymond, and audiences are invited back to the Barone living room for a great evening with one of America’s favorite TV families. In addition to Garrett, Romano, and Rosenthal, they will be joined by Patricia Heaton, Monica Horan, and the Sweeten siblings, Madylin and Sullivan, for a nostalgic celebration.

Garrett expertly played Robert Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond, a police officer and the older brother of the show's main character, Ray Barone, often depicted as living in Ray's shadow and struggling with feelings of jealousy and inadequacy. His life brightened when he started dating and later married Amy, who was played by Rosenthal's actor-wife, Monica Horan. Garrett won three Primetime Emmy Awards for his work on the series.
The funny guy, who still tours with his dry-wit comedy, is the proud owner of "Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club" at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, where he mentors up-and-coming comics and appears on stage to the delight of his fans. During a recent visit, there was a capacity crowd. The headliner was Josh Sneed, the feature act was Steve Caouette, and the host was Mark Chalifoux.
Garrett's first Las Vegas comedy club opened 13 years ago in the hotel’s basement, nestled between a pretzel shop and the House of Magnets, which had a Speakeasy vibe. He took over a Chinese restaurant and transformed it into art deco splendor, opening the current club three years ago on Thanksgiving weekend.

“I started my career in Vegas in 1986, where I was opening for all the different acts and their headliners,” Garrett exclusively told Parade. “I have loved this town from the time I went with my father when I was growing up. It was always my city.”
An extremely grateful performer, Garrett said that show business has been great to him and he considers himself to be "an extremely lucky guy."
Brad Garrett performs at Brad Garrett's Comedy ClubAmong his TV and film accomplishments was his 2002 portrayal of Jackie Gleason in Gleason. Garrett also played the leading role of Eddie Stark on the Fox sitcom ‘Til Death, and the ABC sitcom Single Parents.
He has done extensive voice work on beloved animated movies, including Casper, A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, Garfield, Ratatouille, Tangled, Christopher Robin, and, most recently, Elio.
“It has always been a dream of mine to have a club in Las Vegas where I could showcase up-and-coming talent,” he said. There is so much talent out there that needs to be seen, and I feel like guys likeJosh Sneed, who is creative and funny, need to be seen in the Vegas mix.”
Garrett says that he enjoys seeing the subsequent generations of comics appearing at his club. “I always felt like I wanted to pay it forward. People were great to me when I started in the late 70s, and it’s just fun to watch these guys come here.”
He said that there have been at least six stand-up performers who filmed their comedy specials at his club during the last three years, and some guys filmed their David Letterman and Tonight Show audition sets at the club, and they would get on the show that way.

“This feels like going full circle, since this industry is even harder to get seen than it ever was,” Garrett said. “There are hundreds of outlets out there, so anybody with three minutes of material can get on TikTok and go viral, but they don’t really have an act. So, when it comes to the comics who have really worked on their craft, and who have an hour of polished material, how do they get seen?”
While the series Everybody Loves Raymond earned 15 Primetime Emmy Awards during its nine seasons, Garrett reveals that in its first season, the series was not doing well in the ratings when it aired on Friday night.
“Yet, we felt that this cohesiveness was working after the mid-season during the first year. We all came from very different parts of show business, and I didn’t even know Ray from the stand-up world; we had never met. Everything just started to click. We had a very unique chemistry.”
He said he believes the success of the show was the hard work from the writers, cast, and crew that took place during 12-hour days, and the relatable material.

The friendships formed on the set of the sitcom have lasted a lifetime, which is clear from the scrumptious steak dinner Garrett, Rosenthal, and Romano shared during an episode of the hit Netflix series, Somebody Feed Phil.

“I know it sounds trite because everyone says, ‘Oh, yeah, we’re all friends,’ but in this case, we are extremely close friends. We are a grateful group of people. To this day, 30 years later since we premiered, we know how lucky we were and we know how hard we worked.”
He also has great praise for his friends. “Ray Romano is the same wonderful guy who did the pilot for the series. He became a massive TV star, and it has not changed him one bit. He’s truly that same down-to-earth guy who is just about his craft, his family, and treating people the same way that he always did.”
Garrett said his appearance at the 2025 Emmy Award ceremony is the perfect example of Romano’s “kindness.”
Romano was asked to present the Outstanding Comedy Series award, and a few weeks before, he asked Garrett if he wanted to present it with him.
“I thought it could be great, but we didn’t have any material. So, we wrote this bit that we thought might be kind of funny, that kind of harkened back to our television relationship, but felt new enough that we were kind of still ourselves,” Garrett said. “It’s a tough audience, but we got lucky and we came up with a bit that kind of made both of us laugh. It was an example of his graciousness to bring me along.”
He said Rosenthal is also a sweetheart, whose Somebody Feed Phil is the dream gig for a generous man who loved feeding the cast and crew on Everybody Loves Raymond.
Instead of supplying chips and snacks on the set, “Phil spent a lot of time making sure we all had great food, like in that scene where we were eating that chocolate cake so quickly before Marie caught us. He had an incredible local baker, who would make these cakes, and he had a top-notch Italian restaurant that made the pastas that we would eat in the show. We were all foodies on that show.”
His buddies return the compliments, saying that filming the Las Vegas episode was a great deal of fun for all of them. “Brad is really the nicest, sweetest guy. I don’t see him enough,” Romano recently told Parade. “I wish I could see him more often.”
