The story follows classmates Tony, Mia and River, who form the After-School Kindness Crew and embark on adventures filled with friendship, empathy and upbeat “brain breaks.” The first book includes classroom surprises — from an escaped snake to a rambunctious dog—and highlights the importance of kindness and community.

Hawn also released an educational animated short called Brain Buddies, created through the Goldie Hawn Foundation’s MindUP program. The project stars three of her grandchildren — Wilder, Bodhi and Rio Hudson — who recorded voice roles for the film.
“I wrote and produced it, and three of my grandkids, Wilder, Bodhi, and Rio, did the voices,” Hawn told People. “What I loved is how well they followed the direction that I was giving them… For me, it was a memorable joy that I will have for the rest of my life.”
She added that she voiced the prefrontal cortex herself.
Hawn shared that her grandson Wilder is already heading into the entertainment world: “Wilder just got an audition for a Netflix film and got the part… But all of our grandchildren are entertainers. There is no doubt about it.”

Her Lifelong Mission: Helping Kids Understand Their Brains
Much of Hawn’s recent work is tied to her two decades at the helm of MindUP, a program designed to help children develop mental fitness, emotional regulation and tools for learning.
“The brain break is one of the things they do in the classroom three times a day, because it calms them,” she explained. Kids in the program learn to recognize how parts of the brain function—from the amygdala to the hippocampus to the prefrontal cortex. She recalled one child who, after misbehaving at recess, told the principal, “My amygdala was being overactive!”
For Hawn, gratitude remains one of the most powerful practices she promotes: “Gratitude is really powerful… it helps your brain settle down into a more optimistic place.”
