It may feel like forever since fans last visited Hope Valley, but the wait is almost over. Even though the most recent season aired in January 2025, Hallmark viewers are getting an early gift. Season 13 of When Calls the Heart officially premieres Sunday, January 4, 2026.
The beloved series, starring Erin Krakow, Kevin McGarry and Jack Wagner, returns to Hallmark Channel with a few familiar faces.
Melissa Gilbert took to social media to share the big news, posting a promo video featuring some of the cast. "Merry Christmas!" Krakow said in the announcement video. Gilbert, back as a guest star, teased, "Guess who's coming back to Hope Valley?"
Brooke Shields jumped in and said, "It's me! I'm so excited to be returning to ‘When Calls the Heart.’" The beloved actress guest-starred on the show back in 2016 for a two-episode arc. After all these years, she’s making her highly anticipated return.

Gilbert, best known for her iconic role on Little House on the Prairie, is returning to When Calls the Heart after appearing as Georgie McGill in Season 12. This time around, she received an upgrade on set.
Filming for Season 13 began for the actress in mid-August, and while Hallmark hasn’t confirmed her number of episodes, fans may already have an idea.
Gilbert posted a photo of her director’s chair on September 5, revealing that it now includes her full name and character, rather than the more generic “cast.”
She wrote, “I got a chair!!! No longer just ‘cast’. Yeeeeeeehaw! @wcth_tv #theresnobusinesslikeshowbusiness #hididdledee #actorslife #priorities #aplacetosit.”
While fans are eagerly anticipating the new season, the premiere is set to bring its share of drama and challenges.
"There's an event that happens at the beginning of season 13 that kind of shatters Hope Valley and the surrounding area and sets off a journey for every character that'll run the entire season," McGarry recently hinted during a panel on the Hallmark Christmas Cruise.
"We ended season 12 with Nathan and Elizabeth and Little Jack and Allie all leaving Hope Valley, so we have to bring them back into town," he teased.
