CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Ontario County District Attorney’s Office is beginning to take shape.
DA-elect Jason MacBride has announced the hiring of defense attorney James Nobles as a prosecutor, who will join the Ontario County DA’s Office in 2026.
Nobles currently runs a firm in Rochester. He previously worked in the Monroe County DA’s Office, where he handled hundreds of criminal cases. He also served as a special prosecutor on a case in 2022.

MacBride and Nobles will both be involved in the Sam Nordquist murder trial. The trial involves seven people accused of torturing and killing a transgender man at a motel in Hopewell.
