Recently, 43-year-old Cabino Valdez, in a 2025 Subaru Outback, was westbound on Lyons Bald Mountain Road, east of Apple Valley Road, when the CHP reported he went off the roadway and crashed into a ditch. Arriving officers discovered Valdez was not alone in the vehicle, as an 8-year-old passenger was found in the back seat. While officers reported that Valdez and the child were wearing seatbelts, both sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
