General Hospital actor Adrian J Anchondo, who plays Marco Rios, shared that he was able to fulfill a personal dream of having his family appreciate his work when he brought his grandmother behind the scenes of the ABC daytime drama, according to photos and comments he posted on Instagram.
In a series of Instagram photos posted on November 19, 2025, Anchondo wrote, “I brought gramma to work today,” sharing a glimpse of their visit to the set.
Anchondo expanded on what the moment meant to him, explaining in his caption that he was grateful to share “what I love, what I’ve worked for since I was a teenager.” He shared, “Over the years I’ve struggled with being taken seriously for my passion, begged friends and family to come see me in plays, to turn on their tv for a few minutes, to share something I created. And today, seeing her smile and experience the magic that I get to see and live in made up for all the times I didn’t feel validated or didn’t believe that this could be real for me.”
The actor also opened up about his ongoing struggles with self-doubt and anxiety, noting that the pressures of performing can weigh heavily. “I’ve been battling anxiety, often fighting with myself at 3 a.m., allowing intrusive thoughts to hinder my performance on and off the stage. This career is not for the faint of heart, you’re always questioning yourself, working and letting go of multiple jobs, falling in love with characters and dialogue that you don’t get to keep, pages and pages of words that are permanently filed somewhere in the back of your mind.”

Anchondo went on to describe outside factors that have affected his journey, “Fan theories and mean comments, internal and external comparisons, becoming friends with rejection and censorship, the reality of aging, the need for acceptance of my sexuality and ethnicity, and the constant fear of temporary.”
Despite those struggles, the visit served as a meaningful reminder of how far he has come. “But all of that vanished today when I saw her smiling behind the camera, feeling the light of her pride shining on me,” he wrote. “She took pictures with actors she’s admired and watched for decades, people that I get to call my coworkers, and through her eyes I was once again reminded that this is real, that I’m one of them, that I’m doing what I was meant to do. She helped me pinch myself and breathe again, to let go of what I can’t control.”
Anchondo concluded his post by writing, “I don’t know what the future holds, but I know that this present moment is so good.”
