Watch Country Star Ella Langley Two Step Into the 2025 CMA Awards With Emotionally-Charged ‘Choosin’ Texas’

Ella Langley delivered the television debut of her current single, "Choosin’ Texas," at the 2025 CMA Awards on Wednesday, Nov. 19, on ABC.

The 26-year-old Alabama native, known for her signature bangs and Stevie Nicks style, wowed the star-studded audience and television viewers from across the nation with her effortless display as seen in the TikTok video below. She unveiled the heart wrenching story of a person coming to terms with the reality that their significant other’s heart is with someone else in Texas.

“She's from Texas, I can tell by the way / He's two steppin' 'round the room / And judgin' by the smile that's written on his face / There's nothin' I can do,” Langley belted out the melancholy lyrics of the chorus while dressed in fringe red pants with stars stitched down the sides and a flowing white top. “It doesn't take a crystal ball to see / A cowboy always finds a way to leave / Drinkin' Jack all by myself / He's choosin' Texas, I can tell.”

Throughout the performance, Langley stood amid a backdrop of shimmery star props, paying tribute to the Lone Star state. A pair of dancers, presumably the ones featured in the accompanying music video for the track, could be seen swaying across the room in front of Langley as she threw herself into the performance.

Released in October, “Choosin’ Texas” was written by Langley alongside Luke Dick, Joybeth Taylor, and fellow country superstar and personal hero Miranda Lambert, who was waving a Texas flag in the audience. The track does not currently belong to a project, but is expected to appear on Langley’s next album, a follow-up to 2024’s Hungover and Still Hungover (deluxe) albums.

Ella Langley Previously Shared Praise for Miranda Lambert

Of working with Lambert on the song, Langley gushed, in a statement, saying, “I’ve looked up to Miranda Lambert for as long as I’ve known who she was, and she’s somebody who I'd just love to write a song with. So getting a chance to write ‘Choosin’ Texas’ with her and a couple of other songs off of this record, I mean, it was just one of the coolest things. I mean, who gets to do something they’ve dreamed about as a little kid? I was like, that little kid got to come out and experience that day. So it was awesome.”

Langley was up for six awards heading into “Country Music’s Biggest Night,” but she’s already been named a winner. The singer, along with Riley Green, took home the awards for Single of the Year and Song of the Year for "you look like you love me." Single of the Year also goes out to the producer and mix engineer, which went to Will Buddy and Jim Cooley, respectively while Song of the Year is presented to the tunesmiths behind the track, which was also given to Aaron Raitiere. She, along with Lainey Wilson and Megan Moroney, scored the most nominations as females, with six each.

Langley is also the running for Female Vocalist of the Year, New Artist of the Year, Music Video of the Year for her duet “you look like you love me” with Green, and Musical Event of the Year for “Don’t Mind If I Do” with Green.

“I think it’s awesome that three women are the most nominated, and I feel blessed to be a part of that," she shared. "I just, you know, it feels like people are connecting to the music in a way that I would hope.”

The 59th Annual CMA Awards, hosted by Wilson, aired live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Those who missed the ABC telecast can watch the next day on Hulu.
