“It was amazing. Harrison is so good… I should say he’s an underrated actor because everybody knows how great he is, but the subtlety of his work," said Fox, who received a Parkinson's disease diagnosis over 30 years ago, during the People magazine interview. “[He’s] so brilliant and so fun to work with. [He’s] so protective of me and wanted me to have a great experience.”

People reported that Fox revealed to the publication that he approached the co-creator of the dramedy, Bill Lawrence, about filming for Shrinking Season 3. Fox guest-starred as Dr. Kevin Casey on Lawrence's medical comedy Scrubs and played Mike Flaherty in his series, Spin City, per IMDb.

Harrison Ford Spoke About His 'Shrinking' Character

In an August 2025 interview on Wild Card with Rachel Martin, Ford discussed playing Dr. Rhoades on Shrinking, which premiered in 2023. He said that while he doesn't "agree with everything that comes out of his mouth," he has a similar disposition to his Shrinking character. In addition, he didn't want to act against his type while playing Dr. Rhoades.

"I think when you're doing this kind of a show, the closer you live to who you are, you know, the better everybody is. I have seen in my career that when I put on a mask, when I have a character that makes me appear to be different to what is expected, people go, 'Huh?'" explained the 83-year-old.

While speaking toPeople in December 2024, Ford said he wanted to be respectful with how he portrays Dr. Rhoades amid his Parkinson's experience.

"There are people that absorb these kinds of experiences with grace and courage and a little bit of wisdom," said the Star Wars actor to the publication. "It's just to say that this is a person particularly equipped to communicate what it's like, and that is something that I feel that is worth sharing with our audience. I feel like I'm telling a story. The story I'm telling is a story that I know, and so I can just simply feel it.”
