Ozzy Osbournes Son Louis Makes Rare Comment on Late Rockers Insane Funeral

Ozzy Osbourne’s son Louis Osbourne is shedding new light on the scale of the late rock legend’s funeral, and breaking his silence on his father’s death.

Louis, who tends to stay out of the public eye compared to his younger half-siblings, Jack, Kelly, and Aimee, appeared on the latest episode of his half-brother’s podcast, Trying Not to Die. The two reflected on the massive crowd that gathered in Buckinghamshire, England, to honor Ozzy in July. The Black Sabbath frontman had died one week earlier at age 76 following a heart attack.

As the 50-year-old recalled, he had assumed the procession would draw a strong turnout — but nothing like the scene that awaited them once they arrived. “Before we turned onto the street, I just thought it was going to be like two or three people deep for like half a kilometer before where the Black Sabbath bridge was, and it would be a throng,” he said. Instead, the crowd was “f**king insane.”

Louis described the scene as “awe inspiring” and how fans were “climbing up lampposts, hanging out of windows, standing on top of bus stops to get a look of it.” Even after the family stepped out to lay flowers and pay their respects, the procession continued far beyond what he expected. “It kept on going for another half a mile and then people were following us all around town.”

“I knew people loved him, but I didn’t have a sense of how many and how much,” Louis remarked, going on to say that he never realized the sheer impact his father had on the world. “'I’ve [never] got my head round the fact of just how much of a cultural impact he had and how culturally important he was.”

Jack, 40, nodded in agreement, noting that “when you're in it you don't see it, like when you're in the eye of the storm… [he ’s] just dad.”

Ozzy shared Louis and daughter Jessica with his first wife, Thelma Riley, also adopting Riley’s son Elliot. He shares his youngest three kids with his second wife, Sharon Osbourne.

Louis noted towards the end of the interview how he felt his father knew he was nearing the end. “I'm not saying he was ready to go, but I think I definitely think he knew his time was coming from the conversations we had,” he shared. “And to some degree, I think he was kind of at peace with that cos he'd been in so much pain for so long.”
