BERKELEY — A 19-year-old UC Berkeley student rushed to a hospital last week after being taken unresponsive from a fraternity has died, police said Wednesday.
Authorities did not identify the person immediately. The incident happened last Friday.

Fire crews transported the student to a hospital, where he initially was listed in critical condition.
Authorities have not released any other details of what may have happened.
According to police, the incident happened while a large party was underway at the fraternity. Police put the attendance at more than 300 people and said officers observed overcrowding and heavy drinking. For that reason, police said they issued a civil notice of violation relating to public nuisances during loud and out-of-control gatherings.
The party also exceeded the 200-person limit, and police said the Berkeley Fire Department issued a citation for violating its Indoor Entertainment Event permit, then revoked it Saturday.
Police said they also are forwarding a separate case to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office to review potential charges against the safety coordinator of the fraternity on suspicion of furnishing alcohol to those under 21.
