Man pleads guilty in kidnapping near Thornton Middle School

An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of trying to abduct a teenage girl near Thornton Middle School in April pleaded guilty to kidnapping and attempted child sexual assault, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Steven Robert Houseman was arrested at Thornton High School after police say he tried to grab a 15-year-old girl walking near the middle school at 9451 Hoffman Way on the morning of April 28.

The girl resisted and Houseman fled the scene.

    Houseman pleaded guilty to the two felony counts on Tuesday. One count of attempted sexual assault was dismissed as part of the plea agreement, according to the district attorney’s office.

    Houseman is set to be sentenced in Adams County District Court on Feb. 6.
