Whitney Leavitt is a reality TV star competing with pro Mark Ballas on season 34 of Dancing With the Stars. "I didn't have the tools or feel like I had the networking for it," Leavitt explained to Danielle Fishel on the Danielle With... podcast. "And here we are," she added, laughing.
Despite not having representation or a team, she would go to auditions with her husband Conner supporting her behind the scenes.
"The show kind of naturally presented itself," she said of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, adding how making TikToks was her way of being able to perform and entertain.
As Leavitt revealed in the new season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, she only came back to the show to have the opportunity to compete on Dancing With the Stars.
"After last season, I did decide to step away from the show, but I never quit MomTok," the reality star said in a confessional. "I just really needed a break, but then I heard from my team Dancing with the Stars was going to cast someone from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and that’s a motivator. I'll come back for that."
Leavitt has since responded on Instagram to the backlash she has been getting about her comments on the show, saying she has been getting "more opinions than [she] ever imagined."
Still, there are some DWTS fans who think Leavitt could win the Mirrorball this season. Instead of getting an acting deal, though, she'll get a SLOMW spinoff.
"They're gonna get all that press and then they're gonna announce a franchise version of [The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives] in a new location," said TikTok user Sydney Shrewsbury. She presumes Leavitt is "already under contract" with the network, so her winning would also be an easy win for ABC and Hulu (who are owned by Disney).
Leavitt and Hulu have openly talked about franchising the series with various spinoffs. Only time will tell if that becomes the case.
