Romanian SC Championships
November 13-16, 2026 Otopeni, Romania SCM (25 Meters) Full Meet ResultsMany of the best swimmers in Romania met at last week’s SC Championships in Otopeni, and nine Romanian National Records fell. World Record Holder David Popovici was notably absent from the meet, though none of his records were broken and his spot on Romania’s European SC Champs roster is likely safe.
One of the top swimmers at the meet was 18-year-old Daria-Mariuca Silisteanu, who broke both of her own Romanian records in the 50 and 100 backstroke events. In the 50, she swam 26.77 to knock half-a-second off her former record time of 27.38 from the 2024 Championships, and in the 100, she touched in 57.84 to drop four tenths from the 58.29 she swam last year. Silisteanu also won the 50 fly (26.66).
Darius Stefan Coman also had an excellent meet, breaking four Romanian records, one in each of his individual events. He won both the 100 breaststroke in 58.19 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:04.46, breaking his own national records in both.
He also broke Robert Badea‘s 200 and 400 IM national records. In the 200 IM, he swam 1:54.40 to take nearly a second off Badea’s 1:55.24 record from this meet last year. His 400 IM time was 4:05.03, which came in more than a second under Badea’s 4:06.42 from the prelims of the 2024 SC World Championships.
The final national records went to Daria Asaftei, who swam 30.93 in the 50 breast and 1:06.50 in the 100 breast. She broke Henrietta Fangli‘s 50 record of 31.52 from the 2022 Nationals and Brigitta Vass‘s 100 record of 1:07.47 from last year.
Denis Popescu did not break any national records, but he walked home with five national titles. He won the 50 free (21.97), 50 back (23.31) and 100 back (50.47), and the 50 fly (22.90) and 100 fly (50.97) events.
