Food Network Stars Rally Around Justin Warner After Heartbreaking Loss

Justin Warner is mourning the loss of his beloved dog, Kewpie — and his Food Network family is surrounding him with love.

The Food Network Star season 8 winner and longtime Guy’s Grocery Games contestant and judge shared the news on Instagram, writing, “It’s with a heavy heart that I announce the peaceful passing of an iconic dog, Kewpie. Wherever her next destination is, it will be a better place for it.”

Warner added that Kewpie “will be ever so sorely missed by @maustalk and myself, but also by so many people she made smile over the years.” His wife, Brooke Sweeten Warner — whom he married in 2015 — posted her own tribute, calling Kewpie “The greatest road dog there ever was. Love you forever Kewpie Boo-boo Bear ???.”

Kewpie was a familiar presence to Warner’s fans thanks to years of appearances in his posts and travels, and the chef community immediately began flooding the couple with condolences.

Jet Tila wrote, “Noooooo. I’m so sorry, brother. I’m grateful to have had a tiny bit of time with that sweet soul,” prompting Warner to reply, “She was too, wouldn't shut up about uncle Jet the whole plane home.”

Maneet Chauhan added, “So sorry for your loss! Love and strength! ??,” while Stephanie Izard wrote, “So sorry to hear. Was so happy to meet Kewpie a couple months ago ?,” to which Warner responded, “She was happy too, chef. Thank you.”

Mei Lin also shared support, writing, “I'm soooooo sorry, Justin. I know Kewpie was so loved, and I’m so glad to have met her. ❤️❤️❤️.”

Michele Ragussis — who finished runner-up to Warner on Food Network Star — wrote, “I’m so so sorry J what a loved baby ❤️.” Brooke Williamson added simply, “So sorry ❤️,” while Alex Guarnaschelli wrote, “NO. Sweet little puppy girl.”

Martie Duncan, another former Food Network Star season 8 runner-up who remained close to Warner, commented, “Oh Chef, I am so sorry. I know Kewpie was such a big part of your family. Much love. ❤️.”

Warner, who hosts Eat the Universe for Marvel, and serves as a sideline reporter for Tournament of Champions, has long been a fan favorite on Food Network — and the outpouring of support shows just how widely loved he is within the chef community.
