Legendary 1970s classic rock acts Foreigner and Lynyrd Skynyrd are joining forces for a tour dubbed the Double Trouble Double Vision Tour.
The trek, named after Skynyrd’s classic 1976 album and Foreigner’s 1978 set, will make 19 stops in North America during the summer of 2026, beginning July 23 in Atlanta and wrapping up on Aug. 29 in Rogers, Ark.

But there’s one hitch. Neither band has a single original member in their current touring lineups.
The classic 1970’s Lynyrd Skynyrd lineup, known for such Southern rock anthems as “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Free Bird,” sadly came to an end when the band’s chartered plane crashed, killing singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines, and seriously injuring other members of the band.
The band reformed in 1987 with Ronnie’s brother, Johnny Van Zant, filling the lead vocalist spot and Rickey Medlocke, who played in the band in 1971-72, returning to the fold along with longtime guitarist Gary Rossington, one of the 20 passengers to survive the deadly plane crash.
Back in 2018, Skynyrd announced a farewell tour but continued to tour, even after the death of Rossington, the band’s last founding member, died on March 5, 2023, of a heart attack at the age of 71.
The current version of Skynyrd still features Johnny Van Zant, who shared his enthusiasm about the upcoming tour, in a statement.
“I'm excited to share the stage with Foreigner and hear all their amazing hits! I've always been a fan, and I believe the audience will love this tour. Lynyrd Skynyrd and Foreigner together — it doesn't get much better than that. See y'all in 2026!”
Foreigner Also Had a 'Farewell' Tour
Foreigner similarly staged a farewell tour in 2023 that concluded in 2024 but has continued to soldier on. Founding member Mick Jones announced in 2024 that he had been stricken with Parkinson’s disease and was retiring from touring, leaving the group with no original members, though original singer Lou Gramm has made occasional appearances with the group since its induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024.

Jeff Pilson, who is the longest tenured member of the band’s current touring lineup, having joined the band in 2004, is also looking forward to the tour.
"The energy the band has felt knowing we'll be touring with Skynyrd this coming summer has been electric! Two bands with plenty of iconic songs, dueling guitars, double trouble and double vision are gonna set each and every stage on fire! No question this will be THE go-to event of the summer!” he said in a statement.
